RE: Good advice, as always.

Hi,
With the price of diesel now adays it is a buyers market. If you really want a new one start looking around. I am sure there is a dealer out there that might like to work with you. Try DeMartini RV Sales. He is a great guy and may make you a deal you can't refuse. You ought to be able to Google him up with the name.
If you do not have your heart set on a new one there are a lot of great deals out there for used. I bought a 2003 40' Holiday Rambler (the Monaco family) and it has been a great motor home. Unfortnately I bought it about 3 years ago but still got a good deal at the time.
What ever you decide the DP's are great! I went from a 36' gaser to the present motor home and never looked back. Now all of you guys and gals with gasers please do not take this the wrong way they are great motor homes too.

RE: question on running temp

I have a Holiday Rambler '03 rear radiator and the temp never goes over 180. I have a slobber tube on and clean the radiator every few months. I would clean the radiator good and see what you temp runs then.

RE: Looking for some Monaco advice

I have an '03 40' Holiday Rambler made by Monaco, my cousin has a Monaco '98 36'Winsor. We both like ours and have not had any major problems. You didn't say what mileage the MH has but with a DP anything up to 80 or 90,000 should be ok. If you get serious you might have Cummins do a check for you.

RE: Portable, 2-Burner, BBQ ????

I have been using the Weber Baby Q and find it works very well. I think it has two burners. Small and easy to store.

RE: newby fueling question?

Sorry, I forgot one thing, when you get into the pumps there are usually a "Master" pump and a "Slave pump. Be sure you use the master as the slave will not operate unless the master is on. This arrangement is for trucks with large side saddle tanks to fill both at the same time.

RE: newby fueling question?

We always use the truck pumps as so many have pointed out for better flow rate and easy in and out. I have never had a trucker give me a hard time and lot's of times they will strike up a conversation with you. And always pull up to let a trucker in your space when done fueling. I did have one trucker nut job pull up to let me fuel and then took his time moving out of my way. I was about ready to go steaming into the office and he came out loaded with food and moved.

RE: Golf between LV and Seattle

I forgot, on the CA side of LV Primm Golf course is good. Try to play the Lakes course if possible. Very well maintained and pretty course.

RE: Golf between LV and Seattle

I don't know what route you will be traveling but if you are going through Masquite, NV you have got to play Wolf Creek! It is about 40 miles or so south of St George on the interstate and an hour from LV. It is really a must play!!!!

RE: vacuum toilets

Judy,
I have a bath and one half in my 40' Edeavor with vacuum toilet. Had problems with water draining out of bowel and then running the vacuum pump all the time. Ordered a new seal for the toilet and took out the four bolts that hold it to the floor and pulled the toilet off the stand. Put new gasket in and had no further troubles for quite awhile and then started up again. Took apart again and resealed the bowel to the stand and have not had any further troubles with it. You may try tighten the screws that hold the toilet to the floor as they may have loosened up and now letting the bowel leak water. I believe that is what happened the last time to mine.

RE: Slowing down

I have a question along these lines. I was told by some one that the reason for the outrageous price of diesel was because the manufacturers are sending a large portion to Europe where they can get even higher prices for it. Can anyone out there verify this?

RE: Drain Air Tanks

Roy,
I went to an air brake class on an FMCA rally and the instructor said drain all the air out of both tanks once a month. I don't do it every month as I have never had any moisture come out of my tanks. When you start up and the air is low you might listen for a "whissh" sound after the air has built up showing that you air dryer is working.
I have an '03 Endeavor.

RE: Allison Question

Have you tried to contact Allison? That should be a quick way to find out what it is that's leaking. You can probably Google for Allison website and go from there. Sorry I don't have any answer for you other than above.

RE: CA 5 versus 99

Dan,
I live mid-state and when I go to Oregon or Northern Cal I try and use 5 as it is in better shape than 99. Not as rough on the rig and I don't think there is as much truck traffic plus they are working quite a bit on 99.

RE: Holiday Rambler Endeavor

Wife and I have an '03 Rambler with 3 slides, 40' and have had really very good luck with the unit. We bought it a few years ago with 11K on the speedo. Transyn is pretty expensive so probably why the owner put the other back in again.

RE: outdoor grill

I had one but it seemed to big for just the wife and I so I went to a baby Weber and really like it. If you get the roadtrip be sure and clean it good each time. I did not and melted one of the grills.
